Can I really get an iPhone 6+ for $80/mo with unlimited data, $0 down?
I had been shopping for the iPhone 6+. I'm now on a grandfathered Nation plan with unlimited data for an iPhone 5, four mos short of contract end. I've also got an iPad which is off contract on a $30/mo data plan. Separate, you'll note.
Costs are $40 voice, $30 data, $5 text for iPhone (and then $30 for iPad). I had thought about changing that to a Mobile Share Value, since I don't use as much data. But then I thought hmm, maybe with a bigger iPhone I would use more data...
I had seen really negative things about the Next plan, although it seems to just spread the cost over 20 months instead of the $40/mo charge you get per month on the two-year contracts. So I'd pay $30 mo for data, as before, but still unlimited. No $40 month, no activation (so far). Just $30/mo data plus $47.50 for a 128 gb 6+. Basically a free phone for the same price I'm paying now???
If I do a two year contract, I get that phone for $750 (it would be $950 per Next), but would pay a $40 fee. Still $30 unlimited data.
And I save the $40x4 left on my contract, and can sell my iPhone 5 for $300 online.
Am I missing something here? It seems that ATT is giving me $200 to upgrade my phone with no increase in my data plan. Does it change my voice plan?
