As a 10+ year Verizon customer, I was ready to make the switch to AT&T based on the $500 DirecTV customer offer. I eagerly awaited iPhone 6s Plus pre-order date (this morning), and succesfully ordered two iPhone 6s Plus's (Grey & Gold) at 03:10 EST. I received the order confirmation email at 03:11 EST and also noted that my credit card had been charged (taxes due).
I got worried when the order status would not pull up online a little later, but online chat CSR stated not to worry, it'll be there after 10:00 EST. Still not there as of 11:00 EST, I called to check the order status with a human, and the order confirmation number does not exist in AT&T's system (how did the system generate my order confirmation email?). I'm told that if I want a new iPhone, I'll have to begin the order process again. No problem, except all the phones are already sold out, so it would be late Oct - Nov before it arrived.
Fortunately, I was thoughtful enough to order two iPhone 6s Plus's from Verizon at 04:26 EST. That order went through just fine, and my shiny new phones will be delivered on Sep 25th.
I really wanted to give AT&T a chance, I understand their coverage in actually good in my area. I guess it's better they failed me from Day 1 versus a month or a year down the road. I hope this is not a sign of the future for DirecTV, but I certainly dont feel really good about being AT&T's customer at this moment. The good news is that everyone does anticpiate that Apple will roll out it's streaming TV service next year, so I might have a viable option if I have to ditch DirecTV.
