Hi I’m hoping that someone here can help me out, I purchased an iPhone5s back in Jan from and eBay seller here inthe UK, the device was advertised as factory unlocked; however instead of being delivered locally it arrived from china.
After a little use, loading apps etc the device started to become unresponsive, i finally took the device to the apple store where they informed me that it might be the screen (didn’t want to send back to china), we changed that but it failed a HW test so then i paid for an apple replacement device.
Upon receiving this apple replacement we couldn’t activate the device, Apple ordered 3 devices in total from the US (device is a 64gb no longer available in the UK) and we failed to activate all of them. They finally came to the conclusion that the device is locked to the AT&T network in the US and have informed me that there is nothing they can do about this and that it needs to be unlocked by AT&T. Apparently the original device was an AT&T device and a number of devices form a part of a chain as one has replaced another, although i purchased what was supposed to be a factory unlocked device they could find no evidence of this unlocking in the device chain history or some such.
I’m not quite sure where to go with this and how much i can trust this information as i had no issues activating the original device that i purchased (which was disposed of by apple due to HW issue).
Who can i contact in AT&T to assist me with unlocking the device ?
I’m in the UK and don’t have a local shop i can go into or an AT&T sim i can insert into the device or any such.
Thanks..
Jason...
